Love Is

March 3, 2015

To start off with we must establish where does love come from?

This was one of the biggest discoveries for me; I had always said I love you. But not realizing where it comes from. I was living without Christ in my life and I was just imitating what others that knew where it came from so I was doing as they were doing.

So where does Love come from?

1 John 4:8

The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me

You have to ask Jesus into your life and then and only then can you start to Love.

In the same manner we start an earthly relationship we have to have a desire to want to learn how to love, a desire to be a better person.

We usually do this in reverse order, we seek out a relationship with others first and then if we have time we might start seeking a relationship with Jesus or when things go bad.

The order he wants us to follow is:

We go back into Genesis the first relationship has always been with God first and the secondary relationship is others.

 Genesis 2:7

Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living [a]being.

Genesis 2:21-25

21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 The Lord God [a]fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
[b]She shall be called [c]Woman,
Because [d]she was taken out of [e]Man.”

24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed

So we see that God is interested in us and our needs, but he wants us to have the relationship with him.

John 14:6

Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me

John 15:12-1

12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends

We see real quick that true love comes by way of sacrifice!

Sacrifice-The act of giving up something highly valued for the sake of something else considered to have a greater value or claim.

“To the exact extent that you are not willing to sacrifice for our spouses is to the extent that your spouse will not feel love by you. “ (Word of God Counseling)

Sacrifice is something that Jesus expects and he expects us to show that same sacrifice to those we love.

If we want others to know how much we love them sacrifice for them, give them your time, offer them something without any expectations, or put their needs before yours.

Jesus gave us the greatest example of love, he became the ultimate sacrifice!
